Keno
Keno is about being creative. A variety of betting methods have been developed and to simplify things, these are set out into 6 categories:
Straight Tickets
Straight forward, straight talking - straight tickets! Effortless betting. Mark the ticket and wait for the draw. There is actually no simpler way to bet.
The only things to know are:
a) How many spots does one want to play? The majority of casinos, including the web-based ones, allow players to select anything form 1 to 15 spots - some can go up to 20, 32 or even 40 numbers on a straight ticket. A player will usually want to play 4 mark 8 numbers. Playing fewer than will not make the payoff worth the average 30% casino take. Playing 8 spots or numbers gives the player odds of 230 115
b) How much does one bet? Good question! The normal straight tickets are $1, (some though are 70c or less). Players can also play multiples of the base rates. ie: A player could play a $1 ticket for $4, and his winnings will therefore also be multiplied by 4x the $1 payout rate. It must be noted that a casino will not pay more than the aggregate limit on any 1 game when playing multiples of the base rate. ie: if a casino sets the aggregate limit at $50 000, players will never get more than that, regardless how much they bet. This is important to note when deciding how much to bet.
2. Split Tickets
There is no advantage to playing a split ticket. It merely represents 1 physical ticket that is playing 2 or more straight tickets. Each "straight ticket" includes its own group of numbers, either circled or separated by a line, which is not shared with any other group. Each game has its own unique numbers and the same numbers can not be used more than once. It only allows the player the chance to play 2 or more games off the same piece of paper... paper saver and eco-friendly!
3. Way Tickets
There are only 2 reasons to play a way ticket as the payout remain the same as playing the same games in multiple tickets.
a) Fractional rates - players can, in some casinos, play with smaller amounts - 10c and not $1, and therefore get to play more games for less
b) Convenience - Some players find it easier to mark multiple games on a single ticket.
4. Combination Tickets
As the name suggests, the combination tickets allos the player the option of combining groups of straight bets on 1 ticket in a number of ways, with 1 unit being bet for each possible combination. A combo is also a means for players to mix straight bets and way bets on 1 ticket. This must be clearly marked on the right hand side of the ticket by marking the groups bet.
5. King Tickets
The king is one number, circled on its own, on what is then known as a king ticket. The king can also be used in combination with other groups of numbers on a ticket. The number of combinations played with king tickets, and the amount bet per group must be shown on the right hand side of the ticket, as is done with way and split tickets.
6. Special Tickets
A fabulous online casino promotion tool! Used to promote Keno, these tickets can only be played in a particular way, which is pre-determined and set out before the game begins - the payout also uses a different pay schedules - which can generally be found marked on the special ticket. The special ticket often offers better deals than those generally on offer and is used to attract customer and players to the online casino. Fabulous!
Why? There is a special tickets called the "top and bottom". The player pays $5 for this ticket and selects to Top 40 or Bottom 40 numbers on the card. Should all 20 numbers drawn be in the section the player chose, he will usually get a payout of +- $100 000.
